This and That

My husband is in Hawaii with the church youth choir. I'm sure they are having a wonderful time, and I am enjoying the solitude. I'll be ready for him to return, but I'm not unhappy for a few days without him. I did have trouble starting my car this afternoon - probably just the battery, but that's not a difficult thing to solve, so I'm not worried about it. In fact, I know that AAA will come and replace it for me, if I choose, and that's just too easy.

Meanwhile, my son is enjoying his new home and we're delighted for him. Someone asked me if it freaks me out for him to be in another state. No, I left home at 17 to attend college 10 1/2 hours from my folks, though I was still in the same state. He is only 8 hours away even though he's in another state. And it is interesting to realize he lives in a different region of the country, too. I love the place where he is living and will always enjoy visiting him there.

Since there is a noticeable lack of furniture on the second floor, I have embarked on a major redecorating project. Actually, I doubt you could really categorize it as redecorating. I'm having it painted and putting in new carpet simply because it will be easier before I put furniture up there again. I dread the process, but I'm looking forward to the results.

And isn't that the way things are supposed to be? There is always some difficulty involved before accomplishments come around. I am a fan of a performing family and find it interesting that people talk constantly about their talent. And no doubt, they have talent, but they also work hard to make it all seem easy. It isn't easy. Rehearsing, working together every day, putting together a show and performing even on the days they don't want to comes from a strong work ethic, not talent. If it was easy, it would be called "fun", not "work". While it's important to find something to do that interests you, it still will be work most days. And doing a good job is the reward.

So I'm hoping you are doing what you love, and working hard at it. Thanks for stopping by.
