Do You Recognize God's Presence in Your Life?

One day last week, I was tooling along on a highway between two towns. As I approached the second one, the light ahead of me turned yellow. I began braking to stop, but glanced in the rearview mirror and saw the small pickup truck behind me was planning to go on through the light. I kept slowing down, but more slowly as I allowed him time to figure this out and stop. He kept coming. When he finally realized he was going to have to stop or hit me, he slammed on his brakes and tires squealed. Even then, I had to keep inching forward until he finally got stopped. By that time, I was into the intersection and had moved over about halfway into the left-turn lane. He reversed and I backed up and got back in the correct lane, and then thanked God for His protection when I really thought I was going to be hit.

Yesterday, my husband came through the living room obviously searching for something. He couldn't find his wallet. The last time he remembered seeing it for sure was the previous day when he had set it on a fuel pump. (This is NOT a good practice - please take heed!) I called the station, but it had not been turned in. He left to go out there in case it was still on the fuel pump (at least he's an optimist!). A few minutes later, he decided he remembered having it at home and called me to go back and double-check around his bathroom sink. I did, but didn't find it. About 20 minutes later, I headed that way again to get ready for church, and peeking out from under the bedspread on the still un-made bed was his wallet. What a relief! And another reason to thank God for watching out for us.

Are you in the habit of spotting God at work in your life? Sometimes His presence is as obvious as these events. Other times, He works in His still, quiet way. Either way, we must routinely look for His hand in things that go on in our lives and gratefully acknowledge what He does for us. Only then can He continue to bless us.
