Red, White and Blue

My husband and I went to the Fun and Fireworks in Red Oak tonight. We had a good time visiting with some folks and just stopping by the various booths. Bought five raffle tickets from the Firefighters Association. Considered that a donation since I never win anything anyway. Also bought a balloon to be released in honor of my friend's son who is finishing up a tour of duty in the Middle East. Doug indulged in some dippin' dots and I had a couple of cookies.

The best part was an excellent fireworks display. You know how sometimes there are long gaps between them? The company that produced this display did a great job of keeping them coming and the finale was sensational. Not bad at all for a small town. It was fun.

Now, what matters the most is the fact that we are celebrating the birth of this great nation in which we live. Oh, I know. It has some problems. Some of them are quite significant, but in the end, this is a great country. We have many freedoms. We have many rights. We have so much, and yet we still complain. I don't like some things, but I get to have a voice in what goes on here. My voice is just as important as yours. I can vote. I can write my legislators about my opinion. So celebrate Independence Day. Wear some red, white & blue. Go share a fireworks display with friends and/or family. Thank a soldier or a veteran. Display your flag. Give thanks for this land in which we live.

Celebrate the RED, WHITE AND BLUE!
